José Luis Moreira da Silva elected President of the Portuguese branch of UIA

José Luis Moreira da Silva, Partner at SRS Advogados, has been unanimously elected as the President of the Portuguese branch of UIA.

UIA was founded almost 100 years ago and is one of the most prestigious international legal associations, uniting more than 2 million lawyers with a presence in over 120 countries.

Alongside his work as the Partner in charge of the Public, Infrastructure and Transport department at SRS Advogados, as well as its Mozambique desk, José Luis Moreira da Silva has served as president of UIA's administrative law commission since 2012.

In assuming the Presidency of the Portuguese 'branch', José Luis Moreira da Silva declared his intention to strengthen UIA's presence in Portugal and other Lusophone countries, as well as the participation of Portuguese lawyers in the international dealings of UIA, taking advantage of the future Portuguese presidency of UIA and the holding of the 2018 UIA Convention in Oporto. José Luis Moreira da Silva highlighted, 'It is with great motivation that I undertake this mission of representing such a prestigious organisation in Portugal and my Portuguese colleagues in UIA, and I believe that I will succeed in raising the profile of the Portuguese and Lusophone presence within the organisation."
