SRS Legal was represented by Mafalda Alves at the II National Meeting of Luso-Brazilian Associativism, held from 25 to 27 March in Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, Brazil, and organised by the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in Minas Gerais. The initiative brought together institutional, business and associative entities with the aim of strengthening cooperation between Portugal and Brazil.
The event was attended by Her Excellency the Ambassador of Portugal to Brazil, the Secretary of State for the Portuguese Communities, representatives of the Portuguese consular network in Brazil, and several Portuguese Chambers of Commerce, highlighting the growing relevance of the associativism movement in fostering economic and institutional relations between the two countries.
Throughout the meeting, key topics for the development of the Portugal–Brazil corridor were discussed, including the sustainability challenges faced by associative structures, the strengthening of bilateral economic relations, and the role of these entities in promoting investment, business mobility and institutional cooperation.
Associativism was highlighted as a strategic instrument to bring together companies, investors and institutions, contributing to the creation of a more structured and predictable environment in relations between the two countries.
As part of the programme, the Partner in charge of SRS Legal's Tax Department participated in the panel “Funding Sources for the Associative Movement in Portugal and Brazil”, alongside Célia Stamford, President of the Central and South America Regional Council of the Council of Portuguese Communities, and Ivo Amaral, from the Portuguese Club of Recife, with moderation by Luís Felipe de Campos, Tax Lawyer at Freitas Ferraz Advogados.
The discussion focused on the funding models available in Portugal and Brazil, the challenges associated with the sustainability of associative organisations, and the need to develop mechanisms to ensure the continuity and impact of these structures. The role of the tax and regulatory framework in enabling these funding sources was also highlighted, as well as the importance of solutions that promote greater efficiency and predictability in the management of these entities.
SRS Legal’s participation in this meeting is part of its strategic commitment to strengthening the Portugal–Brazil corridor, supporting clients and projects operating within this axis through an integrated and multidisciplinary approach.
With a consolidated presence in Portugal and growing activity in international contexts, SRS Legal continues to closely monitor the legal, economic and institutional dynamics shaping the relationship between Portugal and Brazil.
